After Your First Visit...
Patients who decide to start medication treatment usually follow up two weeks after starting a new medication, and every month thereafter.  The purpose of follow ups are to assess the response to treatment, monitor for side effects, and at times, may require dose adjustments or recommendations for other treatment options.  We treat patients comprehensively and also take into consideration other factors playing a role such as medical conditions or other concerns that may arise during treatment.  Patients that have been on a stable medication regimen for a period of time with control of symptoms usually meet with us every three months.  Those who are on controlled substances require monthly visits in most cases due to state laws, prescribing, and the need for close monitoring.  We realize some patients come to use in the form of a referral or specifically for an evaluation and diagnostic exam but may not be interested in medications.  All patients are welcome and have the freedom of scheduling with the office on their terms or may follow up to check in and talk about how their condition may be progressing if they choose not to use medications as a form of treatment.  It is our pleasure to meet with you for the purpose of using medication as a form of treatment, and in each session we will take the time needed in follow up visits to hear your concerns and talk about the issues that you may be facing in a therapeutic interaction.  Because of the nature of the pandemic, the provider is only providing therapy-only sessions for existing patients and may or may not have weekly availability for a standard psychotherapy session.  In the case you are interested in therapy, we will make appropriate referrals for weekly therapy sessions with providers that may be a good fit and also accept insurance to make care affordable.   We look forward to helping you.
